Mary Ellen Carney |
Mary Ellen attended school in Fulton, Kansas and graduated in 1936. She then went to work for NYA office in Fort Scott, Kansas until her marriage to Owen (Pete) Carney on January 10, 1939. They spent the next few years in California where they worked and had their first daughter, Darlene. They moved back to Kansas with the approach of WWII and eventually settled in Fulton to farm, a life they prospered in and loved so much. In 1979 they retired and moved to Harrisonville, Missouri.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; a daughter, G. Darlene Sheehy; a son-in-law, Connie Sheehy; a daughter-in-law, Lois Carney; a grandson, Clay Charles; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Lowery; four brothers, Ernest Wimmer, Elmer Wimmer, Frank Wimmers, Ralph Wimmer; and a sister, Edna Billingsley. She leaves a daughter, Beverly Legendre (Ron) of Warsaw, Missouri; three sons, Dan Carney (Brenda) of Osceola, Missouri, Steve Carney (Jill) of Nevada, Missouri, and Dave Carney of Pleasanton, KS; a sister, Emma Bourdier of Fort, Worth, Texas.She also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Nazerene Fellowship Hall in Nevada, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. on June 17, 2017.
