Mary Jean VanderEcken

Mary Jean VanderEcken of Harrisonville, Missouri was born May 14, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Arthur Grant and Jean Eleanor (Burkitt) Thomas. She departed this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Mary was employed as a laborer for John Roher Construction, Company, Kansas City, Missouri before her retirement. She was a member of Local 264 Laborers Union, Kansas City. Mary enjoyed tinkering on cars, remodeling her home and going to garage sales. She had lived in Centerville, Iowa before moving to Harrisonville in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arthur Thomas.

Mary is survived by two sons, Robert L. VanderEcken and Chris A. VanderEcken both of Harrisonville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jacob, Kyndelynn and David; three great-grandchildren, Alexandrea, Peyton and Zaylen; two brothers, Billy Thomas and Charlie Thomas both of Centerville, Iowa; three sisters, Nellie Thomas, Centerville, Iowa, Joyce Smith, Unionville, Missouri, Shirley Morland, Centerville, Iowa; other relatives and a host of friends.

Cremation with a memorial service to be scheduled at a later date.
