Especially to those trying so hard to recover from their recent losses. To help bridge this gap, I've put together a recap of next steps forward as they now stand that I'm hoping 411 readers can help share.
REPORTING OF DAMAGE: If you experienced flood damage in either of our recent floods, the City Administrator needs you (businesses/homeowners) to report your damage so they can compile it and submit it to SEMA/FEMA. It seems the magic number that we, as a county, need to hit for state or federal funding is $8M. As of yesterday, we had not hit that level.
Again, this is for the COUNTY. If you have not yet reported your damage, please do so as soon as possible to your local administrattin. If you know someone who had flooding, please also make sure to take the time to ask if they have reported theirs to city officials as well.

If you reported this to the Mayor or an Alderman and have not heard back, I would urge you to take the time to also send that information to the city to ensure it is included in the submission of information to SEMA/FEMA.
(The same advice goes to those who made it to the Red Cross events.) With your reports, please include your name, address and damage levels ($ estimates). Contact information for Happy Welch, Harrisonville City Administrator, is hwelch@ci.harrisonville.mo.us or 816-380-8916.
As for rebuilding, many in the community have asked how they can help our neighbors and friends recover. Jason Bohnert and Show Me Auto Mall are in the works of planning a relief benefit event on Saturday, September 16th and we need community feedback as to the type of event you'd like to see (to help us get the most participation, and help us raise the most money possible for those affected). Crowd sourcing at it's finest, let us know your thoughts as to the type of benefit you'd like to see!
