On 8/22/17 around 4:50am Miami County Kansas Sheriff's Deputies along with Kansas State Highway Patrol observed a vehicle drive northbound and through high water around the area of U.S. 69 Highway at 363rd Street in rural Miami County.
The vehicle was said to have hydroplaned off the east side of the roadway and into a ditch of deep rushing water and was swept away.
After approximately 45 minutes the vehicle was located 150 yards south of where it originally went into the water and it was unoccupied.
Around 7:20am the body of 56 year old Robert Dean Schoenhals was pronounced dead after his body was recovered around 75 yards from the vehicle.
The Kansas State Highway Patrol and Miami County Kansas Sheriff's Office said the investigation is pending at this time.
