The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1989 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 54 year old Vincent A. Shaffer of Ft. Scott, Kansas had a left rear tire go flat causing the driver to lose control over the vehicle and overturn.
Mr. Shaffer along with a passenger in his vehicle 20 year old Tiffany N. Heenan of Ft. Scott, Kansas both sustained serious injuries in this accident.
Tiffany N. Heenan was transported by Medflight to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri for treatment.
Vincent A. Shaffer was transported by Vernon County EMS to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by TCB Towing of Nevada, Missouri.
