Update: Adrian man killed in fatality ATV accident

On 8/29/17 around 8:01pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with the Adrian Fire Department and Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a ATV accident off of T Highway around the area of NE CR 12254 in rural eastern  Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2015 Polaris ATV driven by 80 year old Monroe C. Gilbert of Adrian, Missouri lost control downhill and struck a fence. The ATV returned to the roadway and traveled off the right side of the roadway striking a tree and ejecting the driver.

Mr. Gilbert was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Bates County Coroner Greg D. Mullinax and he was transported to Schowengerdt Funeral Home in Butler.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 51 fatality of 2017.
