Butler man arrested after short foot chase

On 9/11/17 shortly before 1:00pm a Butler Police Officer who was patrolling observed a while male walking on Chesnut Street in Butler. 

The subject who was known to the officer as 23 year old Michael A. Morris of Butler had several active warrants through Butler Police Department and Bates County Sheriff's Office.

When the officer attempted to make contact with Mr. Morris he fled on foot away from the officer and a short foot chase ensued.

He was apprehended a short time later hiding behind a residence located in the 400 block of Pine Street and taken into custody without incident. 

Mike Morris was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and charged with 7 active warrants:

  • 2 warrants from the Bates County Sheriff's Office for Burglary 2nd Degree and 1st Degree Property Damage.
  • 3 warrants from the Butler Police Department for 1.)Exceeding the posted speed limit by 26mph 2.)Failure to register a motor vehicle 3.) Minor in possession 4.)Expired License 5.)Failure to provide insurance. 

Michael A. Morris was booked into the Bates County Jail and he is currently listed as bondable.
