Les was a 1966 graduate of Belton High School. He enjoyed farming in his early years, both in Missouri and Oklahoma; but eventually the family made their home on Belmo Drive in Belton. Les was employed by Solo Cup Company for 25 years and later retired from The Barstow School. He met his wife, Daphne, while working at Solo and they later worked together again at Barstow until Daphne’s death in 2005.
Les loved to deer hunt and fish, and enjoyed watching movies at home. After Daphne died, Les adopted his best friend, a Jack Russell he named Bud. He and Bud had many adventures over the years. Les looked forward to his family Christmas gathering each year. He enjoyed the food, fun and games, and especially sharing stories with his brothers and sister.
Les was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Daphne Batchelder and his parents, Catherine and Ernest Belto.
Survivors include a daughter Tracy Inman and husband Phil, a son David Batchelder and wife Norma, and daughter Christine Langford and husband John; five grandchildren Ethan, Dalton, Delaney, Liz, and Gabe. Les is also survived by five brothers Terry Batchelder, Roger Batchelder, Randy Batchelder, Monte Batchelder, and Tony Belto; and a sister Denise Skeens; nieces, nephews, many other family members and friends.
1 Peter 5:0 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
