Afternoon and Evening Storms

Strong to Severe storms are possible tonight as a cold front digs into the area so if you have any outdoor plans please make a mental plan of where you would shelter. The main threat will be damaging winds as the storms form over eastern KS and progress eastward into MO, but large hail and even an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out in that first hour or so of development.

The severe threat will mainly be from 4-8pm over the KC Metro area, but heavy rain as the initial squall line pushes through may creating some localized flooding concerns so use caution if driving at that time. Moderate rain will continue well into the night so any creeks/rivers that do rise may continue to do so overnight until precipitation stops.
