Appleton City man arrested in St. Clair County

 Cody Oberly
On Oct. 6, Cody Oberly, 20, Appleton City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class E felony of delivery of 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid and a class D misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

A St. Clair County deputy was patrolling around Appleton City when he seen two male individuals sitting on a bench in the park. The deputy made contact with the individuals, later identified as Kristopher Sinisterra and Cody Oberly. When the deputy walked up to the two males, he could smell the strong odor of marijuana.

The deputy also noticed a black back pack sitting by Oberly. The deputy called to have the K9 officer come out and do an exterior sniff test of the back pack and the suspect’s vehicle. The K9 did alert to narcotics in the vehicle and the back pack. A search of the back pack revealed a jar of marijuana, small plastic baggies, a scale, and a grinder.
