Inmate dies in the Henry County Jail

According to Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom an inmate was found unresponsive in her jail cell Friday, October 20, 2017 at around 8:20 p.m. Detention Center staff could not detect a pulse and began CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived at the facility.

Lisa Dee Brown, age 56 of Windsor, was pronounced deceased by Henry County Coroner Dain Sisk just after 9:00 p.m.

Ms. Brown was being held on a 10 day Order of Commitment stemming from charges in the Windsor Municipal Court. She had been admitted to the facility on October 17, 2017.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office, at the request of Sheriff Oberkrom, responded to the Henry County Detention Center to conduct the death investigation. "Having an outside agency conduct an in-custody death is a part of our standard operating procedures", Sheriff Oberkrom said.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office in Kansas City. No results have been released as of the time of this press release.

"While the investigation is continuing, our prayers are with the family of Ms. Brown", Sheriff Oberkrom said.
