Don grew up in Denver, CO and later Deerfield. He graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1971. For a number of years he attended and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nevada. Don worked as custodian at Nevada High School for many years until his retirement. For the past 11 years he has lived in Wichita.
Survivors include one son, Elliott Gilman, Palestine, TX; three brothers, David Gilman and his wife Martha, Nevada, Doug Gilman and Debbie, Nevada, Darryl Gilman and his wife Treva, Chanute, KS; two sisters, Judy Rocco and her husband Daniel, Nevada, Janie Duffey, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews; and his adopted daughter, LaDonna Glidewell, Wichita, adopted granddaughter, Lynna Glidewell, Wichita, and several other adopted grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Connie Gilman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Nevada High School Band or Nevada ROTC in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
