Judy Pruett Ruff was born May 13, 1945 in Maple Hill, Kansas to Clifford and Hattie Brown Pruett. She grew up in the Bates County Missouri area and graduated from Miami High School in 1962. Judy was united in marriage to Nelson R. Ruff, Jr. on February 22, 1963. Three children were born to this union.

Judy worked as a seamstress for many years, designing and sewing everything from English riding gear to beautiful wedding dresses that were true works of art. Some of her creations could even be seen on display in New York. When Judy wasn’t sewing, she loved to square and clog dance. She also enjoyed fishing, she wasn’t a pro, but always seemed to out fish Nelson. Judy loved her Kansas City Chiefs, but her family is what she enjoyed most. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, especially the great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Judy will be forever remembered for her kind and loving spirit, her generous and giving love towards everyone, and for her devotion to her husband and family.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, six infant siblings, and one sister. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Nelson Ruff, Jr. of the home in Harrisonville, MO., her son Kevin Ruff of Harrisonville, MO., daughter Michelle Ruff of Swansboro, NC., daughter Janine Hayes and Husband James of Holden, MO., six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Barbara and Delores.
