They lob personal insults. They attack the character of people they don't know and have never met. They hide behind anonymity. They publish things that are blatantly false.
Liberal newspapers like the Kansas City Star will write things like this: “Eric Greitens doesn’t care about schoolchildren any more than he cares about veterans, or the elderly, or the disabled, or college students, or other Missourians.”
Why do they do this?
They do it to intimidate conservatives. One of the things I hear from people is that they are afraid to do anything in public life because of how nasty the liberal media is.
Here's the thing: We're not scared. And you shouldn't be either.
When the liberal media engages in insults, it's because they've lost the argument. When they call people names and attack their character, it's because their own ideas have failed. When they publish fake news, it's because their solutions haven't gotten real results.
The greatest way to demonstrate that you care about people is to get results. One of the things I'm most proud of is the thousands of people who we've gotten involved who had never been involved in public service before—people who are making a difference. Just today, we appointed 27 people to boards that look after the most vulnerable kids in our state. These are great people who are going to do great work.
They do it because they care. They do it because they want to serve. And they do it because action is more powerful than commentary.
Here's the good news. It used to be that the only way people could get information was through the liberal media. Not anymore.
We meet thousands of people in person and talk about what we're doing. We communicate through social media and email, where hundreds of thousands of people learn about our work and our mission.
That's why the liberal media has lost its marbles. They don't like that we can talk to you directly. They don't like that we're not beholden to them and their agenda. The nastier they get, the more we know we're doing something right.
If you want to fight the liberal media, then do something. Sign up for a cause. Take action. Get involved. There's a lot of work to be done, and the liberal media sure isn't going to do it.
It's up to us. And thank God it is.
