Obituary - Wayne M. Nickl

Wayne M. Nickl, 90, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2017 at Medicalodges of Nevada. Wayne was born June 10, 1927 in Canton, KS, the second child of Karl and Olive Nickl.

Wayne left home when he was sixteen and moved to Hillsboro, KS where he worked for Hillsboro Creamery. He later moved to El Dorado, KS where he worked: construction, in the oilfields, the auto body repair industry and at a gasoline station.

 He met and married Catherine Demo in August of 1945. Following WW2 Wayne joined the Army and shipped out to Korea as part of the Occupied Forces. When Wayne returned from active duty he was hired by Kansas Gas Service and worked there in a number of positions for 42 years. He retired in 1990 but continued to use his skills as a welder to design and create horse/cattle feeders.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, and his wife. He is survived by his children; Terry Nickl, Wichita, KS; Cheryl Beyer (Joseph) Nevada; Deanna Olsen (Paul) Bailey, CO; and Marc Nickl, Savannah, GA.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 in the Ferry Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
