Bates County Memorial Hospital staff members visited Miami R-1 students

Bates County Memorial Hospital staff members visited Miami R-1 students on December 15 to deliver a special thank you for their Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising efforts earlier this fall.

The Miami Eagles donated all proceeds from Pink Out games, bake sales and raffles to BCMH Cares, a fund the hospital uses for area uninsured women who cannot afford a mammogram. Participating students, staff and parents raised $2,098.67.

Christi Pope, Director of Imaging Services at BCMH, spoke to the students about who benefits from the BCMH Cares fund, and the importance of encouraging their mothers and grandmothers to complete regular mammogram screenings. A brief question and answer time allowed students to learn more about a career in radiology.

As a thank you from the hospital, students were treated to pink-iced sugar cookies following the visit. Bates County Memorial Hospital commends these students for their community mindedness, and is grateful for schools and other groups who help support BCMH Cares.
