In the afternoon hours of Saturday December 16, 2017 Nevada Police were dispatched to the 400 block of East Atlantic St. in regards to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a known male subject.
During the initial contact officers discovered the subject had a loaded handgun in his possession. Upon further investigation it was determined the gun was reported stolen in a recent burglary that occurred in Nevada.

During the contact with the subject officers located and seized suspected methamphetamine, and other controlled substances which appeared to have been prepared for distribution. Officers also located multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia. The evidence seized from the residence will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis. The known male subject, identified as Michael P. Hoss, age of 37 of Nevada was taken into custody for investigation of distribution of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a firearm and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding.
On December 16, 2017 the following charges were filed against Hoss through the Vernon County Associate Court:
Delivery of a Controlled Substance - Class C Felony
Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm - Class D Felony
Receiving Stolen Property – Class D Felony
Possession of a Controlled Substance - Class D Felony
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm - Class D Felony
Receiving Stolen Property – Class D Felony
Hoss is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash only bond. Citizens are encouraged to contact the police if they have any information that would be helpful to combat crime.
