Joel M. Fawcett, age 73, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on December 5, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Lord of Love Lutheran Church, 8306 E 171st St, Belton, MO 64012. Inurnment will take place in 96 Cemetery, Lacygne, Kansas.
Joel was born on September 15, 1944, in Hill Field, Utah. He was the son of Clarence and Helen (Klabunde) Fawcett.
Joel served with the United States Air Force Reserves from July 1964 to June 1969. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 442nd Troop Carrier Wing.
On July 10th, 1965, Joel was united in marriage to Jan Miller. To this union were born two children, Stacy and Duane.
For over 30 years, Joel worked for Lucent Technologies, formerly Western Electric, until his retirement. Joel continued to work for smaller companies for the next 7 years.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen Fawcett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jan Fawcett; daughter, Stacy (Roger) Willoughby; son, Duane (Anji) Fawcett. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Austin, Cody, Hunter, Drake, Gage, and Journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org), or to the St. Luke’s Home Care and Hospice (3100 Broadway St, Kansas City, MO 64111).
