Sylvia was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from high school there. She worked for IBM for a number of years attaining the position of executive secretary. Sylvia later went into retail sales working for Neiman Marcus, and Sachs Fifth Avenue in Chicago and later Kansas City, MO . Upon retiring she came to Nevada to be near her family.
Sylvia celebrated her Jewish heritage and in her later years enjoyed Christian fellowship. She was an avid lover of animals, reading, painting, and playing the violin. Throughout her life she lived in Milwaukee, Florida, Chicago, Kansas City, and lastly, Nevada.
Survivors include one son, Lance Weiss and his wife Susan, Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Adam Weiss, Daniel Weiss, Sarah Andrews-Weiss, Will Andrews-Weiss; two nieces, Cindy Dumelle, Jackie Zwillenberg; four great nieces; one daughter-in-law, Rusalyn Andrews, Nevada., and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John; one son, Randall Weiss; one brother, Eugene White.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rusalyn Andrews officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
