From the Harrisonville Police Department

This morning we are very thankful to Mayor Hasek and the Board of Aldermen for approving the pay scale adjustment for this position last evening. To be more competitive with the local job market they approved moving the minimum salary for the Communications Officer position to $16.68 per hour and $34,702 annually. We greatly appreciate the continued support from the Board of Aldermen.

We are currently looking to hire two Communications officers. Job advertisement shown below:

Harrisonville Police Dept. wants individuals who are ready to help the community by joining our 33 police professionals as fulltime Communications Officer (Dispatcher).

As a civilian employee of the Police Department, dispatchers work in the Communication Center and often serve as a citizen's first point of contact with the Department. A career as a Police Dispatcher is challenging, interesting, and highly rewarding. You will have an opportunity to work with sworn Police Officers daily in solving crisis situations, assisting citizens and fellow Department members and ensuring that communication between citizens and officers in the field flows efficiently and effectively.

Police Dispatchers respond to the requests for information or police services received through the 911 emergency calls, routine telephone calls and from citizens who come to Police Headquarters. These requests can range from emergency situations needing immediate police service, such as a report of assault or burglary in progress, to providing a citizen with directions to a local city business. You will also answer calls and dispatch for Harrisonville Fire and EMS personnel.

Dispatchers also provide Officers with a wide variety of support services such as conducting wanted person checks by computer through the state and national law enforcement computer networks, conducting driver's license and vehicle registration checks by computer.
