Cass County man killed after being struck by a vehicle near Emporia Kansas

On Saturday 2/10/18 around 5:45pm the Kansas State Highway Patrol in Emporia, Kansas responded to a report of a man struck by a vehicle on Interstate 35 in Osage County.
The Kansas State Highway Patrol say the accident occurred when the 2001 Saturn SL was traveling southbound on I-35 when it left the road due to icy and struck 49 year old Robert Groh of Raymore, Missouri and 35-year-old Adam Balentine of Judsonia, Arkansas who both were walking.

Both Groh and Balentine were rushed to hospitals where Mr. Groh was pronounced dead. Balentine’s condition was not available Sunday.

The driver of the Saturn, a 24-year-old Kalamazoo, Michigan man, was not injured. A passenger in the car was also not injured.

An investigation is pending at this time and we will update when more information is made available to us from the Kansas State Highway Patrol.
