From the Lone Jack Fire Department

Early this morning, Lone Jack Fire was dispatched to a residential structure fire, mutual aid for Pleasant Hill Fire & Rescue. Due to the location, Lone Jack Pumper 1 and Tanker 1 arrived on scene prior to other companies and found a heavily involved single family residence, with fire through the roof.

All occupants were reported to be out of the residence, however the family reported 2 dogs were missing. Pleasant Hill Fire arrived on scene, and began assisting LJFPD crews who had initiated firefighting operations.

Pleasant Hill crews rescued 1 of the dogs, and it was successfully resuscitated using a LJFPD-supplied Pet Oxygen Mask. Sadly, the second dog died in the fire.

Responding agencies were Pleasant Hill Fire, Lone Jack FPD, Lotawana FPD and Johnson County FPD.

No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is assisting with the family's needs as a result of the fire.
