Chiefs player sentence over marijuana charges in Bates County

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Demetrius Harris was sentenced to two days in jail and fined $500 after pleading guilty in Bates County, Missouri, Circuit Court to one count of marijuana possession and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

He was arrested on March 6th,2017 after a traffic stop with a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper on I-49 in Bates County. Over 35 grams of Marijuana was found in the vehicle after officers searched it.

Mr. Harris was also given two years probation and ordered to complete 80 hours of community service and an NFL drug program. Harris will not get credit for time served -- he must complete the 2-day sentence at a later date. No word on when he plans to turn himself in. 

Demetrius Harris is heading into the final year of his contract with Kansas City.
