The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rockville City Hall, 406 Osage Avenue. The meeting will be come-and-go style with NO formal presentation. MoDOT representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the construction timeline and traffic impacts for the project.
Those unable to attend the public meeting time can visit www.modot.org/southwest and view information about the project.
Replacement of the old bridge is scheduled for 2019. During construction, Route B will be CLOSED at the bridge. No detour will be signed. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes around the work zone.
Local residents will have access to entrances on either side of the bridge, but will not be able to cross the bridge until the project is complete. The project is estimated to cost $707,000 and will replace the current single-lane bridge with a new wider and longer two-lane structure.
The Shaw Branch bridge, west of Rockville, was built in 1935 and is experiencing severe deterioration and is too narrow for current traffic. Approximately 300 vehicles a day cross the bridge.
