Bates County Sheriff's Office warns of IRS Scammers hitting the area again!

The IRS Scammers are hitting our area again. When they get you on the phone they tell you that you need to send money or gift cards to them or the Bates County Sheriff's Office will come arrest you. This is NOT true! The IRS will never contact you by phone. They will only correspond with you through the USPS.

If you get a call from someone claiming they are from the IRS all you need to do is simply hang up the phone. Do not talk to them, do not give them any of your personal information and please do NOT send them any money or gift cards.

Sheriff Anderson is asking for the public to make sure that their elderly neighbors, friends and family are made aware of this scam. It seems that the elderly citizens are a higher target for these types of scams. If you have any questions regarding scams please do not hesitate to contact a Deputy at 660-679-3232.
