The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2014 Ford Fusion driven by 20 year old Alec Rush of Lees Summit, Missouri struck a deer in the roadway and crossed the centerline of traffic and struck the 2016 Ford Fusion driven by 28 year old Nathaniel E. Slaughter of Lees Summit, Missouri head on.
Mr. Rush was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri where he was pronounced dead 4/17/18 at 5:46am.
Nathaniel E. Slaughter sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by J's Southland Tow.
This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's #15 fatality of 2018.
