On 4/10/18 around 11:50am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 52 East Highway just east of Route O in rural Bates County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Chevrolet driven by 62 year old Brad L.Colin of Butler, Missouri traveled into the westbound lane and struck the 2001 Western Star Tractor Trailer driven by 64 year old Thomas E. Leatherman of Peculiar, Missouri head on.
Mr. Colin was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax at 12:48pm.
Thomas E. Leatherman sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was taken by private vehicle to St. Lukes East Hospital for treatment.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow and Garwood Wrecker Service.
