The cold start to this Spring has not been the only hindrance to the growing season. The lack of precipitation has also been an issue. Fortunately, many areas did receive 1/4" to 1/2" of precipitation yesterday but many locations where we need it most saw very little.
Moderate Drought (D1) has expanded across northern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. It is in these areas where they have only received 40 to 70 percent of normal precipitation over the last 90 days and have really been dry since last Fall.
