Traffic Stop leads to arrest in Butler

On 05-14-18 Butler Police received a call of a suspicious male near Fort Scott and Birch Street . Officers arrived and observed the male subject leaving the area in a white Chrysler 300 with no plates. 

Officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as William Jay Clinkenbeard Jr. from Kansas City Missouri. 

During the investigation Officers found Clinkenbeard to be in possession Methanphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Officers also received information that a male subject matching Clinkenbeard had stolen a cell phone from Koehn's Bakery. 

The investigation also found Clinkenbeard to be in possession of a stolen vehicle, stolen cell phone and stolen license plates. 

Charges have been filed on the drugs and paraphernalia, possible charges of burglary and stealing as well as traffic citations are pending. Subject is currently being held in the Bates County Jail on a 10,000 cash or surety bond.
