“I just stopped and got gas headed to the baseball game, and I went in and got drinks and bought Lottery tickets,” Ford said, noting that the Lottery purchase was kind of an afterthought inside the store.
It turned out to be a very lucrative thought. His Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers drawn on May 23, scoring a jackpot win. Ford splits the $272,000 jackpot prize with a player in St. Charles, who will also receive $136,000 for matching all five numbers drawn that evening. The winning numbers were 2, 17, 22, 30 and 34.
Ford and his wife, Amy, claimed their prize the following day at the Lottery’s office in Independence. With the win still fresh, the couple was mulling over options for their winnings.
“We’ve talked about a vacation,” he said. “We don’t get to do that very often. We’ve got four kids, so we spend a lot of time at the ballpark.”
He said he’ll also continue to play Show Me Cash, especially “when it gets really big.”
When asked to describe what he considered a big jackpot, he had an immediate answer: “$136,000!”
Show Me Cash is a $1 daily Draw Game with a jackpot that starts at $50,000 and grows until it is won. So far in 2018, there have been 18 winning jackpot tickets with an average prize of more than $206,000.
