Butler woman charged with sexual assault

Leah Marie Benedick-Cervantes
A July 18, 2018 Pre Trial conference has been scheduled for Leah Marie Benedick-Cervantes of Butler, Missouri.

Benedick-Cervantes has been charged with Statutory Rape after allegedly sexually assaulting a male juvenile.

The parents of the juvenile alerted the authorities last winter after Benedick-Cervantes claimed to be pregnant with the juvenile's child.

The subsequent investigation was conducted by the Butler Police Department led to the arrest of her. Currently Benedick-Cervantes is free on bond.

On May 2, 2018, Cervantes entered into a plea of not guilty and was advised to seek private counsel as the request for public defender services was denied because the surety bond posted exceeds guidelines allowed for the public defender.

On June 6, 2018 the hearing was continued as Cervantes requested more time to hire private counsel due to changes in financial situation. A Pre-Trial Conference was scheduled for July 18, 2018.
