Wayne Arthur Schenker was born September 10, 1945 to Cecil Paul Arthur Schenker and Elva Katherine (Wainwright) Schenker.
Wayne was joined in marriage to Lois Hough July 4, 1969. To this union, 3 children were born: Earnest Ray, Daisy Malia and Amanda Joy.
Wayne started out in life on his family farm in Papinsville. He attended school at Papinsville, Prairie City Public School, Zion Lutheran School and Rich Hill High School, and the school of hard knocks. As a young man, Wayne worked on several farms in the Rich Hill area. In 1965, Wayne was drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany where he served until 1967. In May of 1969, Wayne met the love of his life, Lois. The two were married just two months later. They made their home in Rockville, Missouri.
Wayne always loved to work with horses, cattle and coonhounds. Wayne and his family ran the horse sale in Rich Hill for 18 years. Whatever he was doing, Wayne, Lois and his children (and later his grandchildren) worked at it together. Wayne loved to tell stories, especially ones about when he was young, his favorite horse (Whiskey), black and tan coonhounds, and the day he was named “the worm king of the world”. However, what he loved to talk about most was God’s grace and the love of Jesus.
Wayne always enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and close friends. He also enjoyed his church family at River of Life Fellowship, where he served as an elder for the past 13 years.
Wayne loved being on his farm. On June 28, 2018, surrounded by family, he and Lois watched the sunrise on the farm one last time, before he went home to be with the Lord. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Charlotte; and 1 brother, Rex; and his best friend in the world Harvey Williamson. Wayne is survived by his wife Lois; 1 sister Kay Werling; 1 brother, Bill Schenker and wife Karen; his children Earnie (Bobbie Jo) Schenker, Malia (Lynn) Mount, Amanda (James) Damon; 11 grandchildren, Abigail (Josh) Heiserman, Bob (Callie) Schenker, Sammy Schenker, Cactus Schenker, Shada Schenker, Savannah Mount, Dakota Wilson, Colton Floyd, Faith Damon, Sophia Damon, and Joshua Damon; 2 great grandchildren, Tessa Heiserman and Korbyn Thomas; and many, many close family and friends.
