David Franklin Phillips, 91, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. David was born June 21, 1927 in Nevada, MO to Elmer Madison and Elsie Leona (Eason) Phillips.
David, our dad, was a true blessing from God. He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He touched and affected many lives. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church and kept his family active while growing up in the things of God. He was a youth leader for many years: served on the board, sang in the choir, served on many committees and helped where help was needed. Dad always worked in law enforcement which began when he joined the Army when he was very young and was assigned to the military police, stationed in Austria. He came home from war with a beautiful bride, Anna, our mom, who preceded him in death in 2011. He worked on the police force here in Nevada for many years and later took a job with the Highway Patrol. He retired from the Highway Patrol after 33 years of giving driving test. He was the driver examiner in seven counties, met lots of people and had some very interesting stories to tell. Our dad never met a stranger and loved and cared for many. He entered the gates of the City (Heaven) where his loved ones met him there very peacefully. What a celebration they are having and meeting Jesus face to face, words could not express the joy. Our dad will be missed greatly but knowing he is no longer in pain, and having no memory loss, and knowing where he is brings comfort to all our hearts.
David was a 50 year plus member (lifetime) of the Nevada Elks BPOE #564 and a member of Nevada Osage Masonic Lodge #303.
Survivors include four children, Joseph Phillips and his wife Sara, Claremore, OK, Joanna Hinds, Nevada, James Phillips and his wife Barbara, Punta Gorda, FL, Judy Stark and her husband Danny, Nevada; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
