Evelyn was born April 1, 1929 to Willis E. and Bertha Alice ‘Hall’ Strickland of Clinton, MO. After high school, she married Carl Franklin Gerlt on June 13, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas. Besides raising a family, Evelyn worked as a Teacher’s Aide for the North Kansas City, School District. She attended the Golden Valley Christian Church, Clinton, MO.
Survivors include her children, Carlotta B (Vern) Lindgren, Rebecca Palush, John Gerlt, Rodney (Carol) Gerlt, Rachel Thomson, and Paul Gerlt; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Justin, Roxanna, Christopher, Elizabeth, Esther, Matthew, Jacob, Zachary, Melissa, Amy and Daniel; 14 great-children; and several other family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; 5 brothers, Lee Strickland, Walter Strickland, Willis E. Strickland, Jr., Eugene (Pete) Strickland and Elmer Strickland; and 6 sisters, Tressie Strickland, Anna Wells, Cathrine Phillips, Elberta Wilson, Mayola Sappington and Lee Price.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to either the American Diabetes Association or John Knox Village and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.
