Joan Rose ‘Swaters’ Richter, age 91, of Montrose, MO, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Ellett Memorial Hospital, Appleton City, MO.
Joan was born in Montrose, MO, on January 2, 1927 to Louis and Caroline ‘Cole’ Swaters. After school, she went to work taking care of her mother. Joan married Frank Richter on April 7, 1947 at Montrose. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Sodality.
Joan enjoyed mowing the yard and she was an excellent baker. She loved visits from her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. She was very fond of her niece, Kathy Rainey and her nephew, Steve Swaters.
Survivors include her children, Mike (Diann) Richter, Dan (Sherri) Richter and Bob Richter; 3 grandchildren, Troy Richter, Dawn Wilking and Renee Swaters; 9 great-grandchildren, Kimberlin Vroegop, Kyle Wilking, Keely Richter, Grant Richter, Ashley Swaters, Cody Swaters, Jennifer Moyer, Chase Moyer and Carly Moyer; a great great-grandchild, Lilly Grace Hayes; and a niece Rainey, a nephew Steve, and a host of friends.
Preceding Joan in death were her parents; her husband; a son, Paul Richter; and 4 brothers and sisters, Donald Swaters, Margaret Ellen Swaters, Alice Swaters and Robert Swaters.
A visitation with Rosary will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montrose, MO. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., also at the church, with interment following at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montrose, MO.
