She graduated from Franklin Technical Institute and worked as an LPN in several nursing homes. She was married to Jerry Purdy. To this union, two children, Rob and Vonda, were born. She later married Kenny Rookstool. Together they had a son Frankie. Orlena loved playing with her grandchildren, gardening, and canning. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Herb and Tom Robert and a sister Mary.
Orlena is survived by two sons, Robert Purdy and wife Susan and Frankie Rookstool and wife Rhonda; a daughter Vonda Geeding and husband Pete; two brothers, Charles and David; five sisters, Loraine, Elsie, Beverly, Myrna and Stella; twelve grandchildren, Bryan, Matthew, Shaunntai, Jerry, Kyle, Deauzia, Adara, Kelsey, Heather, Brooke, Kendall and Ryland; and eleven great grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily, Adrionna, Cooper, Dayton, Lisa, Bronx, Jaxon, Elliona, Daimon and Daison.
Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in Curry Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
