Suspicious vehicle stop leads to two arrests
On 8/19/2018, Deputies received a call of a suspicious vehicle at a
business on NW State Route 18 just outside of Drexel. On arrival deputies made contact with a male subject who stated that he worked at the business. Deputies made contact with the owner and he responded to the scene. As he arrived he advised the deputy that the subject did not work there should not be on the property. As the deputy was taking the subject into custody to conduct an investigation as to why he was at the business another male came around the building driving a UTV loaded with tools. The property owner advised the deputy that the UTV was his and the subject should not have been on it. The deputy then took that subject into custody and recovered a firearm from him. Drugs and paraphernalia were also recovered during the arrest.
Both subjects were arrested and it was discovered that they were there to burglarize the business and had approximately $30,000 worth of items taken from the business. It was also discovered that the trailer they were pulling had been stolen out of Kansas.
Erik Martin Arnston 1/15/83 of Overland Park Kansas and William Tyler Campbell 10/15/1989 of Kansas City Missouri were both charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Theft, Possession of Controlled Substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia his bond was set at 50,000 Cash or Surety
Both Parties remain in the Bates County Jail.
