John Kurt Davis passed away at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, on August 7, 2018. He was the second child of James “Jim” Perry and Virginia Sue (Hampton) Davis, born on December 5, 1967 in Osceola, Missouri. Kurt graduated from Appleton City High School in 1986, where he made many life-long friends. Upon completing his education, he began a career in agriculture; first working with his father, Jim, and later starting his own cattle operation and some row cropping. He also proved a talented carpenter, mechanic, and salesman, who filled many roles and did any job well at Zink Motor Company. Shortly after completing his education he married Julie Marie Siegismund on July 23, 1988. To this union three children were born: Trevor, Lyndsi, and Kennon.

Apart from farming, the great pleasure of Kurt’s life was enjoying time with his family and friends. He dearly loved his relaxation in evenings, playing cards and telling tales around the table with his friends. Having a personality overflowing with humor and optimism, he never met a stranger and made everyone around him better people. In this spirit Kurt dutifully operated a fescue seed business in Appleton City, where his conversations were always a welcome respite from farm labor in the summer heat. Furthermore, an entirely self-taught pianist, Kurt delighted the community with his talents through the gift of music, as he regularly played at many church functions. He was a devoted member of Rockville Methodist Church, where he served on many committees, led the “Brothers In Christ” men’s group, and played the organ for Sunday services. Kurt dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He never missed any event they were involved in, and continually supported their endeavors. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Kurt is preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Davis; and one brother Jimmy Davis.

Kurt is survived by his wife Julie; his mother, Sue Davis; his children: Trevor Davis, Lyndsi Rivera (Adam), and Kennon Davis; one sister, Susan Siegismund (Philip); a brother, Willie Davis (Andrea); three grandchildren: Braylin, Emery, and Persephone Quinn; nieces and nephews: Ethan (Michelle) Siegismund, Emily Henning (Riley), Cisely Hilte (Corey), Maddie Siegismund (fiancé Chris Hunter), Garrett and Cameron Davis; along with many more extended family members and close friends that loved him very much.
