From the Bates County Sheriff's Office

On 9/28/18 at approximately 1050 am the Sheriffs Office responded to an accident on southbound I-49 approximately 2 miles south of Passaic.

The accident was a two vehicle accident that caused the need to shut the highway down. This was a fatal accident. The Sheriffs Office turned the scene over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol to investigate.

Additional agencies have assisted to include Adrian Pd, Butler Pd, Adrian Fire Department, Butler Fire Department and Missouri Department of transportation.

The interstate remains shut down and traffic is being rerouted from I49 through Passaic through Butler. We appreciate everyone’s patience while they work to reopen the highway.
