Obituary - Christopher David Martin

Christopher David Martin, 35, passed away on September 9th, 2018 at Research Hospital after a six-year battle with cancer. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.

Chris was born on November 28th, 1982 in Clinton, Missouri. He graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 2001 and from Missouri State University in 2005 with a Business Administration degree. Chris enjoyed his career as the vice-president at Sun Trust Bank in Leawood, Kansas. His coworkers would describe him as an extremely loyal, dedicated, and wise friend.

Chris married the love of his life, Melinda (Breshears) on March 24th, 2006. They were blessed to share 12 years together and have three adventurous boys, Maverick, Mckade, and Memphis. Chris was a wonderful father who enjoyed coaching his sons in sports, riding ATV’s through the trails, hunting for the prize deer at camp, and watching every superhero movie possible.

When Chris was given the 18-month life sentence to live, he defied the odds and fought cancer like a true warrior, living six years for the love of his family. Left to honor Chris and remember his love is his wife Melinda and three sons, Maverick (10), Mckade (8), and Memphis (7); Parents David Martin, Debbie Miller, Rick and Kathy Breshears; Grandparents Dave Walden, Carol Page, and Wanda Breshears; Sisters Ashley (Jeremy) Little and Brittany (Steven) Dittmer; and nieces and nephews. Chris was proceeded in death by his family members Rosalie Walden, Jonny Martin, Harold Breshears, Kenneth and Delores Kehm.

His funeral services will be held at Vansant Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Visitation will be from 5:30pm to 7:00pm with the service beginning at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to one of the following: The Martin Family Contribution Fund at Hawthorn Bank, the Medical Center Cancer Foundation, or the Truman Lake Cancer Association.
