Obituary - Evelyn Leone (Wallace) Balk

At the age of 99, Evelyn Leone (Wallace) Balk went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 2, 2018. She was born in Warwick, North Dakota on July 13, 1919 to John Leslie and Katherine (Kaufman) Wallace. She married Walter Richard Balk on March 18, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1985. To This union they were blessed with 7 children and 116 descendants followed.

In her youth her family lived in many states before settling in Missouri in 1930. She lived in the Walker area staying on the farm until recently. She was a homemaker, seamstress, avid reader and a great cook specializing in peach cobbler. She enjoyed her family and always loved for them to visit her. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada.

Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, M. Annette Balk, Scottsdale, AZ, Vernille Cubbage and her husband Donald, Nevada, MO, Arlene Hutchison and her husband Jim, El Dorado Springs, MO, and Roenna Balk, Gainesville, TX. Grandchildren, Bonnie Warne, Doug Reynolds, Divin Bartholomei, Suzy Benson, Cynthia Hatton, Toyka Saxton, Sheila Bryson, Donis Dasent, Davola Garrett, Kenya Leer, Tanya Morin, Shawna Hutchison, Bud Hutchison, Jack Hutchison, Gator Hutchison, Traci Jones, Tera Elliott, Waylon Balk, Jaysten Wortman, and Eskai Childress; 53 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; brother Leslie Wallace; many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

She was preceded in death by daughters, Francille Pettibon and Jeannette Bartholomei; son, Terry Balk; grandchildren, John Reynolds, Janea Hutchison, Sherri Cubbage Prewitt; brothers, Virgil Wallace, Oran Wallace, Orville Wallace; and sisters, Verona Cox, and Genevieve Hardenbrook.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Nevada with Bro. Doug Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery, Walker, MO. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
