Doris Elaine Dickinson was born December 18, 1930 in Oroville, Washington to Walter and Marie Worthington Dale. After the death of her mother she moved to British Columbia, Canada to live with her grandmother Hazel Worthington. Doris attended school three years in Canada before moving to Butler, Missouri. She attended Star School and Butler High School. She was united in marriage to Hugh Neil “Bud” Dickinson on August 26, 1948. To this union, five children were born. Doris and Bud moved to Forsyth, Missouri in 1986. While there, Doris was an active member, music coordinator, and pianist for the Branson Community of Christ congregation for six years. She was also a member of the Branson Sweet Adeline’s singing group. When they moved back to Butler in 2002 Doris was a part-time pianist and active member of the Butler Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed playing music for the local nursing homes and senior center. Doris loved her flowers, gardening and her cat Sebastian. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Doris will be forever remembered for her love of music.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sister Iris Bomstead, and brother Owen Dale. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bud Dickinson of the home in Butler, her children, Cheryl Lindeman and husband David of Lake Tappawingo, MO., Bill Dickinson and wife Mary Dawn of Independence, MO., Brenda Barton and husband Jeff of Raymore, MO., Bob Dickinson of Butler, MO., and Don Dickinson of Kansas City, KS., seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
