From the Cedar County Sheriff's Office

On January 8, 2019 the Sheriff and Corporal Josh King will be traveling to Jefferson City to meet with the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole, They will be attending a parole hearing on Joshua Brown to oppose his release.

In 2016 Joshua Browns case went to trial by jury. He was tried for 2nd Degree murder in the connection with the 2014 shooting death of Cedar County Deputy, Mathew Chism, hindering prosecution, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. He was found guilty by a jury on all four counts. The 2nd Degree Murder and Hindering were over turned by the judge and he was acquitted on those charges.

Brown was convicted of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence, which he has served about 4 years of a 10 year sentence.

Anyone who would like to write a letter to the Parole Board may do so. You may bring the letters to the Sheriff to be hand delivered or you can address the letters and send them to:
