Jim grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. Following high school Jim enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He returned to Nevada where he worked his whole life as custodian for Nevada R-5 School District retiring in 2003. Jim was an honorary member of the Qua Paw Indian Tribe. He was instrumental along with Ed Woodington in organizing local Pow Wows held in Nevada. Jim was a member of the American Legion in Nevada.
In addition to his wife Melanie, survivors include one brother, Donald Timbers, Sedalia, MO; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Louise Stacey, and Lucille Smith; one brother, Everett Timbers.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested in his memory to the American Legion in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
