The Cass County Sheriff’s Office deployed several deputies, sheriff K9 Unit, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), and were assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol to search for the suspect. K9 Loki and his handler tracked the driver to an area near S. Valley Rd. where a UAV operator located the subject hiding in an area of tall grass. Deputies responded and took the subject into custody without incident.
Deputies also recovered the truck and trailer at the scene. The truck had been reported stolen from the Pleasant Hill area in November. The trailer recovered at the scene was reported stolen from south of Harrisonville on Tuesday.
The driver, Jacob A. Mitchell, 30, Pleasant Hill was arrested for numerous active warrants. Mitchell is wanted on 10 different Failure to Appear warrants for drug and traffic offenses in Pleasant Hill, Failure to Appear Obstruct Police in Harrisonville, and Failure to Appear for Driving While Revoked in Cass County.
Mitchell is being held on $2200 cash bond in the Cass County Jail. Charges related to today’s incident are still pending.
