Update: One arrested after wild police chase in Bates County

On 12/7/2018, an Adrian Officer observed a vehicle parked on the side of the road that matched the description of a stolen truck out of Vernon County earlier in the day.

The Officer attempted to conduct and investigative stop when the driver  fled westbound on 1st St at a high rate of speed. The pursuit left town on 18 Hwy as the Officer maintained a visual on the truck. When the
driver was unable to lose the Officer, he left the roadway in an attempt to flee from the pursuing Officer.

Additional units were in the area to setup a perimeter. The Officer observed the truck in the field opposite of where he left the roadway and was able to catch up to it. The driver drove the truck into a creek, got stuck, fled from the vehicle and ran into a nearby timber line.

With the help of a nearby MSHP Helicopter, we were able to locate the suspect hiding in the timber where he was apprehended and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The suspect Ryerson, Paul Micheal was charged with the following:

Fail to Maintain Right Half of Roadway
Fail to Stop at Stop Sign x4
Exceeding Posted Speed
Careless and Imprudent Driving
No Valid Operator’s License
Receiving Stolen Property
Fail to Yield to Oncoming Traffic
Driving Under the Influence

Additional charges are pending for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing and  Tampering with a Motor Vehicle (Stealing)(Vernon County).
