Upon arrival, fire personnel found that Tammy Fields had fallen approximately fifteen feet to the water while walking across the well cover. Mrs. Fields was unable to touch the bottom of the well and was clinging to rocks protruding from the wall of the well to stay above water.
Golden Valley EMS and Pettis County EMS crews were also on scene and evaluating the condition of Mrs. Fields by verbal communication while fire crews were preparing vertical rescue equipment to retrieve Mrs. Fields from the well.
At approximately 3:45 pm, a firefighter was lowered into the well. Once he reached Mrs. Fields, he fitted her with a rescue harness and personnel at ground level hoisted her back to the surface.

When Mrs. Fields was cleared from the well, she was evaluated by EMS personnel and then transported by Life Flight to Research Hospital in Kansas City where she was later released.
