Karen Denise (Knox) Miller departed this life on December 29, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 9:00-10:30.
Burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Karen was born August 7, 1960 in Harrisonville MO, the daughter of Robert and Connie (Trog) Knox. She was employed by the government for 35 years. Her career began as a GS-2 clerk typist with the Social Security Administration in downtown Kansas City. Karen drove 90 miles one way in the beginning of what proved to be a very successful career.
Through her desire for occupational enhancement and personal development, she was awarded multiple promotions and rose to the level of GS-13, Budget Analyst for the United States Department of Agriculture.

Karen met Steve Miller in May of 1987, at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base in Belton, MO. The two were married June 16, 1990, in Lee’s Summit. Over the years, Karen and Steve expressed their love of family through camping trips, travel, and holiday gatherings. They played an important role in the lives of their nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. They could always be found in the stands at sporting events, school programs and scouting functions. Karen’s whistling of excitement and support could be heard over the roar of any crowd.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Robert Knox, in 2002. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Steve, of the home, along with their 2 beloved dogs, Dixie and Libby. Also, left to mourn her passing are her mother, Connie Knox, Harrisonville, her sisters, Linda (Chris) Patrick, Dallas, Texas, Janet (Lee) Gaddy, Freeman, Diane (CW) Noble, Harrisonville, Debbie (John) Winders, Collins, and one brother, Doug (Amy) Knox, Harrisonville.
Nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly include, Shanda and Patrick Ryberg, Brandon (Deanna) Winders, John (Monica) Winders, Kyle Knox, Sara Knox, Sean Patrick, Keri (Spencer) Travars, Jordan Patrick, and Joe Noble. Great nieces and nephews include, Corbin and Mason Ryberg, Chloe Winders, Miranda and Whitney Winders, Ariel, Isabelle, Junior and Snowdin Travars, Kennedy Noble and Tanner Parman.
Karen will be missed and fondly remembered by an abundance of extended family and friends.
