Congratulations to Conservation Agent Scott Brown who received a Special Achievement Award for the actions he took on September 1, 2018.
On 09/01/2018, Agent Brown was attending a rodeo in Osceola, MO when his wife noticed a young boy behind them who appeared to be choking. Agent Brown quickly grabbed the 1 ½ year old boy from the distraught mother’s arms and administered back blows to dislodge the item choking the young boy. After an unsuccessful first attempt, the boy appeared to stop breathing.
Agent Brown carried the boy down the steps and was assisted by an off duty EMT. The boy appeared to stop choking and returned to his seat, only to start choking again.
Agent Brown again administered several back blows that helped dislodge the remaining items blocking his airway. The child quickly recovered and needed no further medical attention.
