From Rich Hill Mayor Jason Rich

On February 13th, 2019, the Board of Alderman passed a minimum housing and building standards code, Bill No. 687. Within this ordinance is regulations for portable accessory buildings and fences.

The large number of dilapidated buildings inside city limits has created the necessity to regulate structures. Buildings built to this code will help ensure longer building life, and thus, reduce the number of dilapidated structures in the future.

Dilapidated buildings have a pernicious effect on current property values in the city, and it is the city's duty to protect everyone's property to the best of our ability.

Declining property values inhibit those with a desire to locate here. This creates additional challenges as this council and future councils work toward changing the current declining population of Rich Hill.
